Snow Globe Posters - A.J & Y.Z

Today, We started our snow globe advertising posters for our Twilight Fair. We had to include where to find our stand, where the fair is, what time it starts and finishes and what we are selling. Our posters had to catch peoples attention, have BIG, Bold words and it had to be colourful. Here are four of our posters. Hope you like them!

Simpsons Avatar by SB

A few weeks ago we made simpsons avatars for our magazine page on Simpsonsmovie.com. This is what mine looks like.

For Room 9 Nelson Central - A.J

Thank you for your comment Room 9. We have now worked out how much they will cost. The small Snow globes will cost $3.00, and the large Snow globes will cost $4.00.we are almost finished them all. Hopefully, we will be finished in time for the fair on the 20th.We got our prices because we need to make $100.00. We calculated the difference between the selling price and the cost of the items, and how much profit we needed to make. We also thought that if we wanted to sell them to children we needed to have it in their pocket money range.

Making our Snowglobes by C.S.

Three weeks ago Room 21 made snowglobes for our school fair. First we had to collect some jam jars. Then we had to get some decorations for the snowglobes. We had to glue some rocks to the lid of the jar. After that we glued the characters ontop of the rocks. Then we added some bushes. Then just to finish it of we aded water, glycerin and gliter. Then we sealed it with silicone. We still have to decorate.

Toledo Artwork- AJ

With Mrs Greene, our Thursday teacher, We have been making a clay sculpture of the painting Toledo by El Greco, a Greek artist. We first made a clay ball and then a flat piece that looked like a pankake. We put the flat piece over the ball and that formed the shape of a hill. We then made the houses and we ended up with a little clay city. After we let it dry over the holidays, we got to paint it in green, blue and heaps of country colours. Here is what it turned out like.

Snowglobes AJ

Over the past few days,we have started to make snowglobes to sell for the fair.We started off by collecting glass jars with lids.We had to collect 60 jars. The next week,we talked about how much it would cost and the safety of using the glue guns. We started off gluing some rocks to the bottom of the base. Then,if we wanted,we could put some greenery in to make trees or bushes. Then we got little plastic figures to stick to the rocks. We had Santa, reindeer, Santa's sleigh, cherubs, small snowmen, big snowmen and dinosaurs. Next we are going to fill the snowglobes up with water and glitter and use sealent to seal it up. Then we are going to decorate the snowglobes with ribbons and paint. I bet we will have heaps of fun selling them and hopefully, we will make 100 dollars.

Botany Downs Monopoly SB

A few weeks ago we made games for our topic show me the money.I made a Botany Downs Monopoly with all the things in the school. (Well basically everything). I did the sets of building such as the office. The colours were the same ones for the proper Monopoly. I also did the prices. They are in the ones, tens and hundreds. I got the notes from my Monopoly at home. I also got the pieces(car, plane, cannon etc). I just brought the pot of gold, shoe, battleship and a old car. On the front there is a Ferrari California because on the proper Monopoly the is a car on the front. For the buildings I put in Auckland City, I put on a picture of the Monopoly man because its Monopoly. On the left hand side there is a arrow that stands for go. It uses one dice(of course).First one to get bankrupt loses.

S.C's steady hand game

First I got a plastic teddy bear and a piece of cardboard. I then gathered some wires and a battery box, 2 l.e.d lights some wires and a soldering iron plus soldering wire. I drilled some holes in the teddy bear and soldered the wires to make it work.
What you have to do is get the wired wire to the end but if you touch the side the red l.e.d will shine and if you get to the end without getting a red light on the blue light goes on.
It took so long to make!!
I thought it was really fun to make and worth it all the way and now all the children are all asking to have a turn with my contraption.

Making Board Games

It was so fun making games! We all made differant board games and electronic games. My game is called The Simpsons, and my friend's is called Monsters Vs Aliens. They were both awesome and hard work. We had two weeks to make them, with no restrictions. We used glue pens, penciil posters

By MS and SB.

our games

For homework, we made board games. We could make them about ANYTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!! M.L and E.O made them about spooky houses and dare or no dare ones. This is how we play them.
Spooky House: You roll a dice and move the number of spaces it lands on. If you land on a square that says pick up a scardey cat card or a dare devil card you do it. First one to the end wins.

Dare or No Dare: You roll a dice to see where you go, like a usual game, but if you land on a question, you have to choose dare or no dare. If you land on the flaps without having to go there you have to do it NO MATTER WHAT!!. There is 2 piles of cards, risk and lucky. If you land on them you have to do them. First one to the end WINS!!!!!!!!!!

Making Lemonade

Today we made delicious lemonade. The ingredients we needed to use were 4-3 cups cold water, 1 cup boiling water, 1 cup of sugar, and approximately 4 lemons. First we put the boiling water and sugar into a big bowl. Then we mixed it until the sugar disolved.
Then we juiced the lemons into a mug. When the sugar disolved we poured the lemon juice into the sugary water. After we poured the cold water into the mixture. Then we took out all the seeds in the lemonade. The best thing we did is drinking the lemonade.

Westie the Cat - Our Visitor

Westie is a tortoiseshell cat who comes to visit Room 21 nearly every day. She is cute, snuggly and frisky. All the students in the school try to pat her. Westie always distracts us from our work. One day we shut the door to keep her out, but she came in the window instead.
Westie likes to roll over on her back so we can rub her tummy. She loves all the attention we give her. Westie lives over the fence from school. Sometimes when we all try to pat her at once, she gets scared and runs away. Miss L can remember Westie coming around to the school last year when she was a kitten. She always ran away from the children then. Westie has got much braver.
